Historical Background

Nottingham Forest F.C. was formed by a group of shinty players in 1865 and its first official match took place against Notts County in 1866. Over the years the team had numerous successes and also various disappointing results, however, loyal fans, many who live or lived in and around West Bridgford still cheer for the team as they enjoy football on tv

Colours and Crest

Right from the team's birth, the 'Garibaldi Red' was chosen as the main colour, and this continues to be used today. The team's current crest was designed by David Lewis and features the word Forest underneath a wave and a tree, all symbols of the club's hometown.

Stadium

Unlike most English football clubs, Nottingham Forest has been in its current stadium for over a century. City Ground in West Bridgford has been the team's home since 1898. Following several refurbishments and upgrades, the stadium can today hold over 30,000 spectators. Fans who cannot fit into the stadium can keep up with the action through the Nottingham Forest live stream which is offered by various tv stations.

Rivals

The main rivals for the team are Derby County and the annual East Midlands Derby the two teams challenge each other for victory as well as pride. Other rivals include the team's closest geographical neighbours, Notts County and Leicester City.

Stats and Records

One of the most memorable moments for the team was beating Clapton by a whopping 14-0 during the 1891 FA Cup. Their biggest defeat, meanwhile, took place during the 1937 Division 2 match against Blackburn Rovers with a 1–9 result. With football on tv not very popular at the time, the team's match against United in 1967 registered the highest number of stadium fans, with almost 50,000.

Key Players

The team's largest purchase brought Benfica's João Carvalho at a cost of £13,200,000. It's most valuable sale, meanwhile, was of £15,000,000 for Britt Assombalonga to Middlesborough. Grenville Morris scored 217 goals for the club, a record he still keeps, whilst Bob McKinlay holds the record for most appearances, with a total of 692.
