Historical Background

Birmingham City Football Club was founded in 1875 as the Small Heath Alliance – a name that was shortened to Small Heath some eight years later. The club was renamed Birmingham in 1905 and adopted its current Birmingham City name in 1943, although fans also refer to their team as the Blues.

The team plays in the English Football League (EFL) Championship and has been based at St Andrew’s stadium (also known as St Andrew’s Trillion Trophy Stadium) since it was first opened in 1906. Prior to that, the club was based at Coventry Road stadium, which is also known as the Muntz Street stadium.

Whilst EFL matches are not as headline-grabbing as their Premier League counterparts, it is still possible to watch Birmingham City on TV, although fans may need to check Birmingham City TV listings for times and channels. Of course, in this internet age it is also possible for fans who can’t attend matches in person to watch Birmingham City live streams online.

Club Badge and Colours

The badge of Birmingham City FC shows a blue and white globe stacked above a blue and white football, with a blue ribbon winding around the two from top to bottom. The ribbon bears the words BIRMINGHAM CITY FOOTBALL CLUB – 1875 – in white lettering.

Birmingham City have always played in a blue strip of some sort, and the current home kit comprises of a blue shirt with white features, white shorts with blue vertical lines on the outer thighs and blue socks. The away strip of Birmingham City consists of a yellow shirt, blue shorts and yellow socks.
